About
My name is Aranya Tomseth and I am a graduate student at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. This is my first time blogging, and I am maintaining this website as part of my Interactive Storytelling class.
I’m originally from the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia area, but have also had the amazing opportunity to live and travel all over the world thanks to my father’s 35-year career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. State Department.
Prior to moving to Chicago in January, I worked for two and a half years as a reporter for a local weekly newspaper in Northern Virginia. I also lived in New York City for five years - while there, I worked as a freelance writer, a bartender, an intern at Rolling Stone magazine, a marketing assistant for the TV Guide Channel and as a tour publicist for RCA Records.
