WHAT’S AN ARANYA?

Aranya Tomseth is a half-Thai, half-Oregonian/Norwegian Foreign Service brat who has been blessed with the incredible good fortune to live and travel all over the world her whole life. Contrary to popular belief, she is not Hispanic, nor is she Native American (although either of those options would be totally cool). And yes, she is indeed aware that her name means spider in Spanish, but no, that still doesn’t make her Hispanic.
Aranya is a writer, an editor, a journalist, a bookworm, a music freak, a movie buff, a lover of all things nerdy, an Interwebz junkie, a tech fiend, a magazine addict, a food enthusiast, a former bartender (and subsequently, somewhat of a liquor snob), a dog fanatic, a pop culture aficionado, a sucker for things that go really, really fast and, much to her mother’s dismay, a bit of a potty-mouth. She is prone to inappropriate behavior and juvenile innuendos, and it’s also worth noting that a good number of her friends have informed her that she frequently makes cartoon-like animated faces and weird Asian noises—often simultaneously. Most importantly, she is very easily amused, both by herself and by everything and everyone around her. As a result, she spends a good portion of her days immersed in fits of giggles and bouts of hysterical laughter.
P.S. Believe it or not, Aranya is gainfully employed and has a full-time, totally legit job that she goes to everyday. She’s a writer, editor and social media flunkie for Playboy and Playboy.com. She’s quite certain that she has the raddest job in the world.
