More On Water
Not to harp on an aforementioned issue, but I thought it was worth acknowledging the Chicago Tribune’s recent article on their own private analysis of the Chicago public water supply. In an April 16 article entitled “What’s in your water?” the Tribune said it hired an independent lab to “do the testing the city won’t do.” The results? Well, they found tiny amounts of an anti-seizure drug, a common painkiller, caffeine and two chemicals used to make Teflon and Scotchgard in samples taken from a water supply that serves 7 million people.
While Chicago’s drinking water is still deemed to be safe, the article raised a question that I posed in a previous post - and that is, what are the long-term effects of all these trace amounts of chemicals in our drinking supply. And perhaps more importantly, what is going to be done about it?
